Invalid verification code: identify the cause
A text arrived but its code is invalid or expired? Check the matching request, channel and time limit before retrying.
2 min · Practical guide
Which received message is it?
Compare the text timestamp with your latest request. Several requests can leave several messages. A code belongs to a particular sign-in, phone-change or recovery step.
Enter it in the flow that generated it, not from an old screenshot or another activation. Check spaces, similar-looking characters and truncated fields before assuming a reception issue.
Read the exact error
Expired code, invalid code and too many attempts describe different causes. Keep the wording and message time to distinguish an elapsed deadline, a typing error and a limit within the verification flow.
If the number was refused before a text was sent, use the dedicated number-rejection diagnosis. Reception tracking does not change the platform’s acceptance decision.
Retry with a clear sequence
Follow the app’s resend timer. For an allowed new request, note the time and follow the matching text. The number’s reception window must remain open; requesting another code does not extend it.
If another channel appears, check whether you can access it. An SMS offer does not acquire voice calls or an existing signed-in session because you select a different button.
Prepare a useful diagnosis
Keep the reference, service, country, request time and error wording. Say explicitly whether no text arrived or a received code was rejected.
Mask codes and private information in public exchanges. For an existing account, use official recovery methods and your own backups.
