Phone number rejected for verification: what to check
Diagnose a phone number rejected before an SMS is sent: format, number type, existing account links and platform verification limits.

First identify whether the app accepted the destination
If the app rejects your number before showing an SMS request or confirmation, there may be no message to receive. Record the wording and the screen where it appeared. An unsupported-number warning, a missing message and an invalid received code describe different stages.
Keep your allocated number and activation reference available. Waiting in the reception screen cannot make an app send a request it has refused. If the destination was accepted and the SMS is missing, use the delivery checks instead.
Check the form before changing the number
Compare the selected country, country code and remaining digits with your allocation. A separate country selector can supply the prefix already. Copying the complete international number into its national-number field may duplicate that prefix.
Follow the app’s example and look at the destination it displays. Do not delete a leading zero just because another country omits one. If a format correction resolves the warning, make one request and follow its displayed timer.
Read restrictions for this platform and this task
Discord’s phone-error help asks for a mobile number and excludes landline and VoIP lines. That is a Discord requirement; it does not classify every temporary number or every other platform.
Check the actual offer’s line category against the official requirement. A country label or a service entry in a directory does not prove compatibility. Registration, sign-in and changing account details may also present different checks.
Distinguish an existing association from a usage limit
An error can concern the number’s relationship with an account rather than its formatting. Discord documents that a number can be linked to one account at a time. Change an association only through the official process for an account you control.
Google also documents phone-verification usage limits, without a universal numeric allowance in its help page. The precise error matters. A newly allocated reception window does not erase a platform’s prior history for that number.
Keep platform decisions separate from activation status
An open activation tells you about access to reception. It does not override a platform restriction or establish that a code will be sent. Read any cancellation and expiry conditions before deciding whether to stop the activation.
Do not assume a refused number guarantees a refund or that repeatedly buying replacements diagnoses the problem. If the app instructs you to wait or contact its support, follow that route. The reception provider and the platform handle different parts of the request.
Prepare evidence that identifies the rejected stage
For an activation issue, keep its reference, service, country, time and displayed state. For a platform rejection, add the exact error and whether it appeared before an SMS was requested. Mask the number in public screenshots.
Never send a password or OTP as evidence. A useful report says what the app refused and what you checked; it does not need access to your account. If a message later arrives but its code fails, switch to the received-code diagnosis.
