International phone number format for SMS verification
Enter an SMS verification number with the right country code, national prefix and destination. Compare split fields with complete international format.

Identify a complete number or a split country field
Start with the form’s instructions. A single field may ask for the complete international number, including + and its country calling code. A country selector beside a national-number field may add that code for you.
Keep the allocation as your reference. If the selector shows +44, pasting a complete +44 number into the national field can duplicate the code. Use the app’s example and check the destination summary before requesting an SMS.
Use the plus sign according to the requested format
The + prefix indicates an international presentation. A local dialling prefix such as 00 is not interchangeable with + in every numbering region, as the libphonenumber documentation explains.
Copy the value provided by your allocation and adapt it only to the field’s documented format. Do not add an international dialling prefix from your home country to a number already presented with +.
Do not remove a zero using another country’s rule
A national trunk prefix and a significant digit are different things. Their treatment depends on the numbering plan. The libphonenumber FAQ notes that a leading zero can remain significant for Italian numbers.
Masked examples illustrate the structure only: +33 6 XX XX XX XX, +44 7XXX XXXXXX and an Italian fixed-line presentation beginning +39 0X. They are not allocated numbers. Never construct an activation number from an example; preserve the actual value you received.
Read the country label as well as the prefix
Some countries and territories share a calling code. For example, +1 serves several destinations within the North American numbering plan. The prefix alone is therefore not enough to choose the country label in a form.
Use the country attached to your allocated number and compare the remaining digits. The directory’s country and territory references describe numbering geography; they do not establish your residence or platform eligibility.
Compare the displayed destination before sending
After entering the number, inspect the confirmation or masked destination. Compare the calling code and visible final digits with the allocation. Remove presentation spaces only if the form requires it, while preserving the digit sequence.
If the destination differs, go back and fix the entry before requesting. Waiting longer in your reception screen cannot recover a message sent elsewhere. Note the request time after confirming the right destination.
Correct format is one check, not proof of acceptance
A formatting check cannot establish that the number is currently reachable or accepted for this platform. The libphonenumber project expressly distinguishes a valid range from a number currently assigned and reachable.
If the form refuses a correctly entered number, record the exact warning and check the platform’s line-type and account rules. If it accepts the destination but no message arrives, use the missing-SMS checks.
