Identify the account action behind the phone request

Start from the game or Battle.net account screen requesting verification. Confirm which account is open and whether the task adds a number or uses one already saved. An SMS offer cannot change the account selected by the game, transfer a license or establish access to someone else’s profile.

Check the linked number when codes target an old contact

Blizzard’s Call of Duty help directs users to update the Battle.net phone when verification goes to an inaccessible old number. Follow that official account-change path. A newly allocated reception number is not automatically your saved Battle.net contact; the contact must be updated through the legitimate account process.

Phone Notifications and Authenticator are different

Blizzard documents its Authenticator in the Battle.net mobile app and a separate Phone Notifications feature for account actions and alerts. Receiving an SMS does not install or configure the Authenticator. Review both settings and their recovery implications rather than treating any phone code as a complete account-security setup.
